Whilst we'd love you to stay in the hotel
for the whole of your stay, you'd be missing the opportunity to go
out and explore the beautiful local area which we happen to think
is pretty amazing.
There's lots to do and see, either right on the doorstep of the
hotel or just a little further afield. To help you, we've
listed a few places that we'd recommend.
Leonardslee Lakes & Gardens
Just a short walk from the hotel
Leonardslee is one of England's most spectacular gardens, famous
for rhododendrons, azaleas and a wonderful natural woodland
setting. They are open every day from 9.30am until 6pm from 1st
April until 31st October.

Glyndebourne
The family home of John Christie,
Glyndebourne near Lewes, has hosted an annual opera festival since
1934. Glyndebourne is most famous for its productions of
Mozart operas; many of which are considered to be the finest ever
done of those operas in the 20th Century. The primary resident
orchestra at Glyndebourne is the London Philharmonic.

Polo at Knepp Castle Estate
Knepp Castle Estate, West Grinstead a
3,500-acre estate, which has been owned by the Burrell’s for over
200 years. At its heart, overlooking Knepp Lake, is a castle
built by the architect John Nash, which remains the family
home. The Estate has a thriving Polo Club with a regular
informal chukka during the week and tournaments and events
throughout the summer. Polo lessons are also available!

The Goodwood Estate
Set in 12,000 acres of rolling Sussex
Downland, Goodwood has long been famous for it natural beauty and
its legendary horse and car racing events.
The home of the Dukes of Richmond for over
300 years, Goodwood House contains one of the finest collections of
English paintings and French porcelain and furniture in England.
Goodwood also offers an exceptional variety and unique mixture of
activities ranging from horseracing, motor racing, flying and
shooting.

Petworth House & Park
The vast late 17th Century mansion is set
in a beautiful park, landscaped by 'Capability' Brown and
immortalised in Turner's paintings. The house contains the National
Trust's finest and largest collection of pictures, with numerous
works by Turner, Van Dyck, Reynolds and Blake, as well as ancient
and neo-classical sculpture, fine furniture and carvings by
Grinling Gibbons. On weekdays additional rooms in the house are
open to visitors by kind permission of Lord and Lady Egremont.

Denbies English Vineyard & Wine Estate, Dorking
England’s largest vineyard, Denbies offers a great day out with
a choice of restaurants, an art gallery, wine and gift shop, a
kitchen garden shop specialising in vines, soft fruits and herbs as
well as a ‘Vineyard Train Tour’ (March to October) and an ‘Indoor
Wine Experience’.
